We’re living through a period of revolutionary change and are awash in revelations and document releases, yet few outlets are making an effort to show core materials. As these stories come out, I’m encouraging readers who work in relevant fields, follow these narratives, or who simply want to pitch in, to write to library@racket.news, especially if they know of documents that should be added.
That I will do. But I also have ideas about making a new kind of informative social media. Maybe now is the moment.
My basic idea is this. There is new technology, literally announced last year, that allows for database distribution that works in your browser. So for small amounts of data, certainly less than in an average 2 minute video, you could have a certified database and interactive chart tool in your browser that you can use interactively and then save to your machine. It’s just a matter of putting all of the parts together.
Here’s the thing. This image is 32KB and has been seen over 92 million times on X/Twitter.
The actual number and data took about 10 seconds to extract and they are less than 500 bytes on my hard drive. Not kilobytes, not megabytes, 500 bytes. Don’t you deserve to see more? Can you not handle the data?
I will be updating this post and responding to comments here.
